Artists for 2026 have been invited

The Open Call for the Network´s Darkroom Exchange for 2026 is finished and we have juried all the submissions

We received almost 100 submissions for this years Open Call for artists residencies with the Nordic Analog Network darkrooms. Each darkroom offering a residency juried the applications where the photographer listed them as a choice and had to decide independently who they felt was the best fit for their space.
The received applications showed a very high quality of work and the jurying was difficult for everyone. Some of the darkrooms have a board of advisers that juries, some let the members vote and some have a select committee who looks through applications. However they all landed their decisions we were happy to see that all the darkrooms chose independently and stayed true to their own judgments by chosing differently from each other.

The invited artists for 2026 are:
Filmverkstaden in Finland/Vasaa invites: Taylor Smith from Norway
SÍM in Iceland/Reykjavik invites: Rebecca Krasnik from Denmark
CYAN in Norway/Oslo invites: Theo Elias from Sweden 
LKV in Norway/Trondheim invites: Sirja Moberg from Finland
SAGA in Norway/Trondelag invites: Alexandra Stroganova from Finland
Björkö in Sweden/Stockholm invites: Lexy Liangzi Xiao from Norway

If you applied but did not get invited this time we still want to encourage you to apply again as we will have a similar open call again next year. You are also most welcome to contact the darkrooms directly and ask for a self funded residency there or check their website to see if they have other options for people who want to go and work there. 
The amount of most excellent and interesting applications was overwhelming and not being invited this time does not mean that your work was not of our liking. Each darkroom had to balance what they believe they can offer a guest and who they think their community could benefit from having for a visit. And now we are all super excited to meet new people in the coming year, either if they are invited residents or if they just stop by for a visit to take a look at the darkness.
