The darkrooms and the artists taking part in the Darkroom Exchange residency program will offer workshops in sustainable photography during the residency period.

Björkö Konstnod presents a one day hands-on workshop led by invited teacher Maria Magnusson, part of the Nordic Analogue Network.

An analog workshop featuring alternative and eco-friendly development methods: Caffenol and phytograms.

Maria Magnusson is a Gothenburg (Sweden) based artist/experimental filmmaker whose work explores the relation between sound and the moving picture in experimental videos and short film. Maria Magnusson completed a Master's degree in Photography and a Bachelor's degree in Art History and Theory at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Her practice is strongly influenced by photographic tradition and she works both still and moving images. She works with found footage, archival material, and combines analogue and digital filmic methods. Examine subjects like memory, dreams, the unconscious, identity.

Practical information
-Morning: Short presentation/inspiration
We'll mix the caffenol developer and develop the analog film (135 mm or 120 mm) that participants bring with them.
-Lunch
-Afternoon: Part 2 of the workshop, which is site-specific: phytograms
Participants will go out to gather plants, flowers, and leaves for phytograms and plan their compositions, and will receive a set number of sheets of photo paper (3–4). We'll mix eco-based solutions for the phytogram development.
