The darkrooms and the artists taking part in the Darkroom Exchange residency program will offer workshops in sustainable photography during the residency period.
Artist Sirja Moberg (FI) is visiting Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder in Trondheim, Norway in September.
She will offer the workshop “Soil Chromatography” at their studiodarkroom 19. September 2026.

Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder presents a one-day hands-on workshop led by artist-in-residence Sirja Moberg, part of the Nordic Analogue Network.
This workshop takes the participants through a hands-on introduction in the process of soil chromatography, also known as the Pfeiffer-method.
Together the participants will go through the whole process of making a soil chromatograph and prepare their own chromatographs using their own soil samples.
The workshop offers a practical introduction to biochemistry and photographic method of creating soil chromatographic images on paper. The process was developed by Ehrenfried Pfeiffer in the 1950ies and was regarded a breakthrough method to visualize biological processes. It was originally created to give biodynamic farmers a visual indicator of the biological activity and healthiness of their soil.
The workshop looks at how chromatography can open up more diverse understanding of soil and earth in our artistic practice.
Participants are welcome to bring their own soil samples that they can work with.
Sirja Moberg (b. 1989, FI) is a visual artist based in Helsinki, currently enrolled in studies at the program for public art at Uniarts university of Helsinki. Working with experimental photography, installation, bioart, video and sculpture her focus is on history embedded in the natural landscape and how life and spirituality are intertwined. Moberg studied photography at Aalto-university and is the vice president of the Finnish Bioart Society.
Participation fee is 1000NOK, all materials are included. Max 7 students.
